This area offers an abundance of things to do, from delving into the fascinating past of historical landmarks such as Tintern Abbey, Goodrich Castle and Chepstow Castle (the oldest surviving post Roman stone fortification in Britain), to exploring a labyrinth of passageways in Clearwell Caves or enjoying a journey on the Forest of Dean Steam Railway. There are several vineyards in the area including Parva Farm at Tintern and the renowned Three Choirs at Newent, where you can treat yourself to a tour and tasting. And, for those seeking adventure, there is plenty to choose from including canoeing and kayaking on the River Wye, walking the Sculpture Trail or cycling the mountain bike trails in the Forest of Dean. Set in its own idyllic grounds on the edge of the Forest of Dean, the property enjoys remarkable panoramic views across the River Severn which you can enjoy from the moment you drive through the gates. Step into the hallway of this delightfully restored Georgian retreat and you will gain your first glimpse of the eclectic style that blends sympathetically into many original features. The ground floor offers generously proportioned living areas where you can gather to discuss the days exciting activities or simply relax with a good book. The original drawing room with its traditional open fire, is the perfect place to indulge in a pre dinner aperitif with views onto the gardens. A cosy snug sits just off the kitchen where you can steal way with a good book or gather to watch TV. The conservatory sits to the side of the house where you can relax with your morning coffee and papers. There is also a large dining hall/library full of interesting books as well as a 26 seater dining table and chairs that takes centre stage. If you fancy some friendly competition, challenge the rest of your group to a game of table tennis or table football within the games room. The kitchen will please the best of chefs, three electric fan cookers and a electric induction hob with five rings, microwave, fridge/freezer, larder fridge, wine cooler, two dishwashers, Nespresso machine, filter coffee machine, washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also a king size bedroom on the ground floor with an en suite shower and WC. Upstairs you will find another six bedrooms, all beautifully finished in Farrow & Ball Colours. There is a super king size along with a single sofa bed with en suite bathroom with power shower, bath and WC. Two king size bedrooms with additional single beds and en suite shower and WC. A super king size (with double sofa bed) with en suite bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC. And last but not least, a further king size bedroom with additional single bed and a twin bedroom that share a shower room with power shower and WC. Outside, the lawn offers an idyllic spot for a game of croquet, badminton or boules. There are apples, pears and plums growing in the orchard, all of which you can help yourself to when in season. On balmy evenings, the terrace provides a perfect place to relax, recline in the hot tub and watch the sun sink below the horizon with a glass of bubbly, enjoying nature at its finest. Light the BBQ and prepare a tasty meal. A long table and seating provide plenty of space for those wanting to dine alfresco as the evening sunsets behind the high wall that shields the property. There is ample off road parking.
Sleeps 17 3. 7 bedrooms 1 king size on the ground floor, 2 super king size, 3 king size (all three with additional single beds) and 1 twin bedroom, also 2 sofa beds in the larger bedrooms(double and single). 2 en suite bathrooms, 3 en suite shower rooms, 1 shower room ( all of the showers are 1200 x 800 with ample hot water and powered to provide ample pressure). 3 electric fan cookers, electric induction hob, microwave, 2 dishwashers, fridge/freezer, larder fridge, wine cooler, Nespresso machine, washing machine and tumble dryer. Private hot tub please bring your owner robes and towels for use with the hot tub. TVs in the snug and drawing room with an extensive selection of DVDs.. Games room with table tennis and table football, and disco room with music centre. Children's games, croquet, boules, badminton. Open fire (first basket of logs included). Travel cot and Highchair available. Ample off road parking. 2 BBQ's (gas and charcoal). Pub and petrol station with convenience store within walking distance. 2 well behaved dogs welcome 15 per night, per dog (must be kept downstairs and off furniture, not permitted in the sitting or dining rooms). Electricity allocation of 55 Kilowatts per day in the summer months and 95 Kilowatts per day in the winter, from 1st October to 30th April. These figures have been assessed by monitoring usage. Any use over these figures will be charged to guests at the current rate. The owner will write to guests in advance of their stay with details of this and owner will also provide them with a key to the meter so that they can check their own usage. Sunday departures are able to check out at 4pm, must be arranged directly with the owner.
