Bridport, Dorset and Somerset
This charming 15th century cottage is nestled in a quiet terrace in the popular village of Charmouth. It is the perfect coastal retreat for families and friends looking to enjoy the natural beauty of Dorset and its Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Just a short walk (approx. 500m) away is Charmouth beach, which is famous for its fossil hunting, so be sure to pack (or hire) your goggles and hammers. Heading 3 miles west, you will find yourself in the bustling seaside town of Lyme Regis where you can enjoy its beach, independent shops and eateries. Despite its history, this cottage offers guests contemporary living in a light, bright and airy setting. Stepping down through the front door into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, you will appreciate the stylish décor that blends contemporary furniture, rustic furniture and mod-cons, which are all set off by the occasional splash of colour. Heading upstairs, there are three lovely bedrooms (2 doubles and 1 single) and a contemporary family bathroom. To the rear of the property is a private walled courtyard lined with containers of pretty shrubs and flowers, the perfect place for a morning coffee or al fresco meal. This part of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has plenty of stunning beaches, such as Seatown (6 miles) and West Bay (9 miles), which are all connected by the South West Coast Path, so put on your sensible shoes, stretch those legs and breathe in the sea air. For something different, you can wander around the quaint, historic village of Abbotsbury (17 miles) before walking amongst the swans at the swannery. Hopping across the border into Devon, you could visit the seaside town of Seaton (12 miles) and enjoy a tranquil tram ride to Colyton (10 miles).
