Durness, Inverness, Loch Ness & Nairn, Highlands
Durness is a beautifully rural part of Scotland; here, the sun, sky and stars meet the unspoilt scenery of jagged grass-topped cliffs and vast stretches of white-sand beaches. Walkers and hikers, on two and four legs, will find fantastic trails over rugged mountains and expansive moorlands. Situated on a quiet road, rolling fields surround the property adding to the overall charm of this Highland home. Sleeping ten guests in four bedrooms, plus two canine chums, this property is perfect for a large family or group of friends who want a break from hectic lives in open, peaceful surroundings. The rooms within the property are spacious, yet warm, welcoming and designed to accommodate large numbers with ease. Rustic charm and nostalgia at every turn, paintings on the walls and a library full of books make this a real home from home. The kids will love having sleepovers in the dorm room where there are four single beds and, when you all need some space, they can head to the additional snug and rule their own roost, as the adults relax in the main living room next door. Step into the large entrance hall and discard muddy boots and coats, leaving the northern chill at the door. Head through to the living room, where comfortable sofas beckon you to relax and rest your walk-weary limbs. Windows on three walls bathe the room in light and provide fantastic vistas of the ever-changing scenery. Bright during the day, the room takes on a cosy ambience as the sun goes down and the wood burner is lit, perfect for a movie night. Prepare a home-cooked meal in the large kitchen before gathering everyone at the dining table. Comfortably seating ten people, this table is made for happy, sociable dinners and hearty breakfasts. Handy extras, such as the pantry with an additional fridge/freezer and the utility room that has plenty of drying space for outdoor clothes, cater to the practical requirements of large groups. As the day draws to an end, retire upstairs to the simple yet cheerful bedrooms. With two of the four bedrooms having an en-suite bathroom, and with a further family bathroom plus a shower room on the ground floor, everyone has their own space. With picture-perfect sea views from some of the windows, wake to birdsong to take your coffee in the garden. Outside, enjoy wonderful views overlooking the surrounding croft land and beyond to Sango Bay. Fully enclosed, children and pups can spend hours playing on the grass here while you sit and relax, glass of wine in hand as the sun sets across the picture-perfect vista. There is ample parking space on the gravel driveway for five cars – very useful if party members are arriving separately.
