Up to ten guests, and a pair of happy hounds, are welcome to stay at this spacious, five-bedroom property. Light the wood burners for cosy nights in, soak up the sunshine and mountain vistas on summer mornings, and head out to Ullswater, 12.5 miles away, for days spent walking by the lake or out on the water. Step into the former farmhouse and find yourselves in the spacious kitchen/diner. Put the kettle on for a pot of tea, then unpack your fresh produce and start thinking about what to whip up for dinner, using the two ovens here. You can cook in the property’s second kitchen too. Lay the table in the dining hall, with its vaulted ceiling and stairs up to a mezzanine level, then call everyone through for a lively meal together. Afterwards, wander into the sunroom to take in the verdant views or make your way into the older lounge/library to relax in front of a roaring open fire and watch TV. Some members of your party might prefer to amble through to the open-plan lounge/diner in the more modern section of the house and to light the wood burner in here instead. Also at the ground-floor level, find a WC and utility room. One of the bedrooms, a king-size, is off the mezzanine landing. Climb the stairs in the older part of the house to find a super-king-size room, with en-suite shower room and beds that can be arranged as twin if discussed in advance. There’s also a twin, which can be set up as a super-king-size if required, and a family bathroom, with free-standing bath. A king-size room with Juliet balcony and en-suite shower room, and a twin, with zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as a super-king bed, are upstairs in the more modern wing of the splendid property. There is also a beautiful bathroom in this part of the house. Spread out and enjoy the magnificent garden during your stay. Play games with the children, keeping an eye on them and your dogs near the pond; dine out on the sunny deck and soak up the scenery. Find you have storage for bicycles and parking for up to six cars.
