Blandford Forum, Dorset and Somerset
The Brick Barn Darknoll Farm is a dog friendly holiday cottage.
Nestled in a rural setting with views of the Blackmore Vale, this charming former barn is just half a mile from Okeford Fitzpaine village, which is home to a shop and pub. From here you can explore various footpaths including the Wessex Ridgeway or visit Sturminster Newton (3 miles) and take a leisurely stroll along the trailway. Venture to Hambledon Hill and Hod Hill (5 miles) for stunning vistas spanning three counties, or why not indulge in wild swimming in the River Stour. The Georgian town of Blandford Forum (6 miles) is also well worth a trip for its brewery tap and lovely walks through the water meadows. Shaftesbury's iconic Gold Hill awaits just 8 miles away. Accessed via an unmade lane and shared drive (bumpy in places), this detached converted barn is brick built and has lovely far reaching views over the surrounding countryside. Set within an organic farm, open the entrance door into this light and bright open plan studio style space. To the left is the fully equipped kitchen area, which has a dining table just opposite, ideal for leisurely meals. There is comfortable seating well placed so you can enjoy your favourite shows on the Smart TV, and a wood burner which adds to the ambience for those cosy evenings in. You'll find a shower room leading from this space, and a king size bed on the right of the entrance door when it is time to retire for the evening. With original beams and a vaulted ceiling, this lovely property is an ideal bolthole for two.
