After a day of exploration, the village offers weary travellers two cosy pubs, both exuding warmth and hospitality, and serving hearty Yorkshire fare. Visit Richmond (8 miles) where you will discover a bi weekly market on Wednesdays and Saturdays and explore the Norman castle where walks along the castle walls and down to the River Swale, with its majestic waterfalls, are a real delight. Nearby Northallerton (10 miles) also offers a bi weekly market to stock up on local produce. Enjoy a trip to the seaside (30 miles), or visit country houses such as Kiplin Hall, Newby Hall, and Castle Howard.
