Ludlow is an ancient town with Georgian houses ascending from the river Teme to the great tower of the cross-shaped church. Standing proudly over the town is Ludlow Castle; witness to many a battle over the centuries but none so gripping as the title of ‘Festival Loaf’ at Ludlow Food Festival. Ludlow is known for its shopping, with a great selection of antique, arts and crafts shops and some retailers. There is also a good choice of eateries including a number of restaurants, pubs and tea rooms.
A E Housman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
Short breaks may still be available.
