Nearby is the town of Spennymoor, which hosts Spennymoor Town Hall and Art Gallery, and just a short drive will take you to the city of Durham, renowned for its magnificent cathedral. There are plenty of walks to be enjoyed in the surrounding countryside in Tudhoe Pinewood and Cow Plantation Nature Reserve.
