Crediton is a lively market town a short drive north-west of Exeter's cathedral city, in a region of Devon known as "Red Devon," so named because of the characteristic red soil that is of great agricultural quality and ideal for growing swedes. This is a rural part in Devon that is peaceful and unspoiled, with ruby cattle grazing among the rolling green meadows. There are several dispersed towns with warm inns, well-stocked farm stores, and inviting residents.

Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?
