Shropshire's little market town of Bridgnorth is a great starting point for exploring the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which borders both Wales and England. The town hall, train station, real ale pubs, cosy cafes, and pleasant restaurants, as well as a few speciality stores bursting with delights, serve as the administrative centre for Shropshire council's northern area committee. If you're a fan of hiking, this is the spot for you. There are numerous trails and routes that take you through beautiful landscapes. If you're interested in mediaeval architecture and art galleries, check out the adjacent Tudor town of Shrewsbury. Charles Darwin was born in this town, and a statue of him stands outside the public library. The National Trust's Attingham Park, a magnificent hall and deer park with a stunning walled garden just outside the town, is a must-see for anybody visiting. In addition, Wroxeter Roman City, which was featured on Channel 4 show 'Rome Wasn't Built in a Day,' is an excellent place to visit if you're interested in local history. Walking, fishing, and other outdoor activities are all readily available in Shropshire. It's hard to find another destination like Hawkstone Historic Park & Follies, which provides visitors with hours of enjoyment and thrill while affording panoramic views of Shropshire and beyond. Oswestry's Lion Quays Hotel and Spa is a serene haven of luxury and leisure with a top-notch dining experience, a restorative spa, and stunning rolling countryside around the breathtaking grounds. For those looking for an all-inclusive vacation experience, this is the place to go.

A E Housman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
