Between Helston and Marazion, on Cornwall's south coast, is the little village of Praa Sands. There are miles of sand on Praa Sands' mile-long beach, which is noted for its exceptional surfing conditions. There is a beachside bar and restaurant where you may have lunch or sunset cocktails. While playing golf, you may take in the breathtaking views of the sea at the nearby Praa Sands Golf & Country Club.
Pengersick Castle, which sits just inland from the beach, was built in the 16th century. A monk's ghost has supposedly been spotted roaming the grounds of Pengersick! An underground passage leading from Pengersick's mansion to the seashore is said to have been utilised by smugglers in the past. John Carter, self-styled King of Prussia, is said to have been born there. Penzance (8 miles away) and Helston both have supermarkets and other shopping establishments (6 miles).
Cornwall’s visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain’s premier holiday destinations.
