Located on the north bank of the Thames, about five miles from Oxford and on the outskirts of the Cotswolds, lies the thriving village of Eynsham. The city's history may be traced back to the Bronze Age. The town contains a general grocery, a few dive pubs, and a family butcher, so it's got all the basics covered. Canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, golfing, and fishing are just some of the outdoor pursuits that may be accessed from the hamlet. Oxford is the oldest university city in England and is known as "The City of Dreaming Spires" due to the many spires that make up the city. The city is home to 38 colleges affiliated with the university as well as the Bodleian Library, Botanic Gardens, museums, and a number of festivals and markets throughout the year. In any given area of the city, you could recognise a location from a recent film or TV show if you keep your eyes alert. Explore the city's many historic sites, shops, and pubs on foot, or take a boat trip down the Thames or the Cherwell. Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Winston Churchill, is a short drive away; the palace and its surrounding gardens were created by the renowned landscape architect Capability Brown, and the nearby town of Woodstock is a quaint and charming World Heritage Site. Close by is the charming town of Henley on Thames, site of the annual Royal Regatta. Family-friendly day trips may be had in any of the three towns of Warwickshire: Stratford upon Avon, home to Shakespeare's birthplace; Warwick, with its magnificent castle; and Royal Leamington Spa. Incredibly enjoyable in any time of year as a vacation destination.
Visitors to the Cotswolds have long treasured memories of charming towns and villages built from the famous honey-coloured stone, it now boasts a thriving community of contemporary artists working from studios and shops throughout the area.
