Located in Breadalbane, on the outskirts of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, the community of Killin is situated across the breathtaking Falls of Dochart. Stone circles and cup patterns on rocks attest to the presence of a long-ago civilization in this region. St. Fillan, who brought Christianity to Breadalbane in the eighth century, is commemorated with a mill that bears his name and with a holiday celebrated annually on the third Tuesday of January. Two prominent Scottish families, the Campbells and the MacNab, have deep roots in the town. The Campbells' fortress, Finlarig Castle, can be found to the north of the settlement, while the MacNabs' ancient burial cemetery, Inchbuie, can be found close to the bridge over the falls. The falls at Killin have been featured in a number of movies and TV shows, helping to make the town a renowned tourist destination. There is a wide variety of stores, pubs, and eateries in the modern-day village, and visitors can enjoy water sports on adjacent Loch Tay. The highest of the nearby Bens, Ben Lawers, is to the north of Killin, while Ben More and Stobinian are to the west, making it an ideal place for hikers.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.
