Approximately 3 miles from Tarporley and 12 miles southeast of Chester is the community of Bunbury, which is located at the western border of the Cheshire Plain. Although little is known about its history before the Norman conquest, it is generally agreed that the name is Saxon in origin. It is also believed that the current parish church's location was the location of a Christian place of worship well before 1066. Early accounts of the village refer to it as Bunan byrig, the Buna stronghold. Today's village is home to a supermarket, three pubs and the stunning St Boniface Church, which is registered as a Grade I listed building on England's National Heritage List. The well-known market town of Nantwich is eight miles away. It hosts regular markets every week and a monthly farmer's market that features the best local produce. There are also numerous events held there throughout the year, such as the Jazz and Blues Music Festival at Easter and the renowned Cheese Awards in July. The mediaeval, walled city of Chester is located farther away and is home to a variety of independent stores and warm restaurants that can satisfy any appetite. From Bunbury, create memories in the North West.
Littered with rural villages, half-timbered buildings and heritage sites, with links to the neighbouring cities of Manchester and Liverpool, Cheshire offers picturesque landscape scenery in North West England.
