A thriving community, Westfield can be found just six miles inland from Hastings. It's convenient for getting around the rest of Sussex and Kent, making it a good home base for exploring the South Coast. On the outskirts of the village is Maplehurst Wood, a 78-acre stretch of ancient woodland designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest where numerous bird species, including the kestrel, tawny owl, woodpecker, and nuthatch, make their nests. Westfield is an excellent choice for those who yearn for peaceful days spent strolling through the countryside, fishing, or playing golf. Westfield, originally named Westewelle, has been one of the largest villages in the area since the Doomsday period. Nowadays, it's also home to the popular Carr Taylor Vineyards, where visitors can enjoy vineyard strolls, tours, and wine tastings. In addition to a well-stocked general store, newstand, butcher, delicatessen, and hair salon, the neighbourhood also boasts a welcoming pub known as The New Inn. The Wild Mushroom Restaurant is a great option for a romantic dinner. Just six miles away in the town of Hastings, you can go for a dip in the ocean, go rummaging for treasure on the beach, or explore the ruins of a mediaeval castle. Battle, a short drive to the west, is the place to go if you want to explore some battlements or have a traditional Sussex cream tea. Battle is lovely year-round thanks to the social history museum Yesterday's World and its surrounding quaint shops and cobblestone streets, and Westfield is a great home base.
With many quaint, seaside and market towns, historic sites and miles of glorious coastline to explore, Sussex has it all for a great holiday destination.
