The lovely Dales town of Pateley Bridge, which was named Great Britain's Best Village High Street in 2016, is located in the narrow valley of the River Nidd. Two award-winning butchers, a fishmonger, a bakery, and the oldest sweet shop in England are all located in charming tiny lanes and yards off the steep main street. There are also many places to dine and drink there. The local leisure centre has a swimming pool, and the riverfront park with a children's play area is not to be missed. Pateley Bridge is well recognised for its award-winning floral displays. The town's Craft Workshops and the award-winning Nidderdale Museum, which features an engaging array of exhibits illuminating all facets of former Dales life, are both worthwhile stops. The Nidd Valley provides fantastic chances for biking, strolling, and birdwatching both upstream and downstream.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?
