Axminster has been known as the "carpet capital of the world" for over 250 years. The town is home to the Axe Valley Wildlife Park, the Axminster Heritage Centre, and the Flamingo swimming pool, among other tourist attractions. Those interested in food and drink can visit the town's many locally owned stores, pubs, and weekly market, or hop in the car for a quick trip to the nearby River Cottage HQ, Lyme Bay Winery, or Millers Farm Shop. Axminster is a must-see due to its stunning scenery, wonderful walks, and proximity to the National Trust properties of Shute Barton and Loughwood Meeting House.
