Dorset, England's Blandford Forum is a bustling market town on the banks of the Stour River. The majority of the town, famous for its Georgian architecture, was rebuilt in the 18th century after a fire in 1731. Local architects John and William Bastard were commissioned to draw up plans after receiving funding from King George II to reconstruct the downtown area. Each year during the first week of May, Blandford hosts the Georgian Fayre, a festival dedicated to honouring the town's Georgian past through talks, reenactments, and performances of period music and dance. The Great Dorset Steam Fair is one of the town's biggest events, and it takes place on the late Bank Holiday weekend. A vibrant celebration featuring over 2,000 displays and a classic steam-powered amusement park. Including a variety of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, and even a Georgian tearoom. There is a lot to see in this charming community, and it serves as a great tourist destination year-round.
