The beautiful village of Hanwood is situated in the county of Shropshire, just a few miles away from Shrewsbury town centre. Running through the village is the Cambrian railway line, however, the town's train station was closed down in 1964 due to the Beeching Axe, a plan to make British railway systems more efficient. The village is home to a Post Office/shop, country pub, a primary school, and a parish church. The Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty rests below Hanwood, with 802 square kilometers of stunning scenery extending to the border of wales, and opportunity to explore rare wildlife, difficult walking trails, and historic attractions. The towns of Shrewsbury and Telford are in reach, with Shrewsbury lying next to the River Severn, and Telford boasting a large selection of high street shops, bustling pubs, lively restaurants, and tasty takeaways. Hanwood is a tranquil destination to enjoy the beauty of Shropshire.
A E Housman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
