Armathwaite is a charming, unspoiled rural community that is conveniently located between the Lake District, Eden Valley, and the stunning Solway Firth shoreline. There is a post office and a quaint little store, as well as two historic pubs with outstanding eateries. The River Eden flows right through the middle of town, and the area is well-known for its fantastic salmon fishing, in addition to its many other outdoor pursuits. Down by the water, in Armathwaite, is a 15th-century church with beautiful stained glass windows and a Pele tower with four stories. If you find yourself in Cumbria, you should definitely check out the Eden Gorge, which is located between Lazonby and Armathwaite. The Settle-to-Carlisle Railway, which stops at the nearby train station, is widely regarded as one of the most picturesque routes in all of Britain. The railway passes through some of the country's most picturesque scenery and is still used by many vintage steam trains.
