The city of Inverness, which serves as the Highlands' capital, is the starting point for seeing all of Scotland's Highlands' many attractions. It is simple to access towering mountains, ominous lochs, vast forests, and sheer sea cliffs. The fabled Loch Ness is noteworthy, however most visitors are usually searching for something a little bit more enigmatic. It is bordered by some absolutely stunning countryside. The Culloden Battlefield at Culloden Moor (National Trust) is located just outside the city. A walk across the field serves as a sombre reminder of the clansmen who sacrificed their lives, and there is an award-winning display recreating the conflict at the location of the last significant battle fought on British soil. Inverness itself has a lot to offer, including museums, an art gallery, a good theatre, and recreational amenities, in addition to stores, bars, and eateries. The city is bisected by the River Ness, which is home to a variety of fauna and marine life, including red kites and dolphins, both of which can occasionally be seen from the shore or when on excursions from the harbour.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.
