Llanberis sits at the foot of Mount Snowdon and is renowned as a base from which walkers, climbers, mountain-bikers and even rail-passengers can explore the wonder of this ancient mountain. Llanberis has grown since Victorian times, in conjunction with one of the two lakes that sandwich it, Llyn Padarn. Llanberis was a slate mining town and quarried slate from the mountain across the lake itself. Now, the redundant slate quarries merge with the surrounding lakes and forests to provide something of interest for all, whatever the weather. The 800-acre Padarn Country Park is the perfect place to explore what the countryside and the local heritage have to offer, including two sites of Special Scientific Interest, a local nature reserve and a wide range of water-sports. If that isn't enough for you, you can always ascend the heights by taking the Snowdon Mountain Railway, see the Ceunant Mawr Waterfall and visit First Hydro's Electric Mountain.

Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.
