Banff is a former county town and a Royal Burgh that was founded in 1324 by Robert the Bruce. The village is known for its remarkable architecture and has been classified as an Outstanding Conservation Area. Banff has a diverse range of architectural types, including Georgian buildings at the town's upper reaches. The town of Banff now has a recreational port and marina, as well as excellent sea views, sandy beaches, shops, and seafood restaurants. Duff House, in the Deveron Valley, was built between 1735 and 1740 and is considered one of Britain's best Georgian homes. The Duff House Royal golf course is nearby, while the Royal Tarlair golf course and award-winning Marine Aquarium are two miles distant in Macduff.
From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.
