Step inside via the hall, where you can slip off your beach shoes or your walking boots. Wander on into the light lounge/diner, where you can sink back into the deep sofas in front of the Smart TV. Play games over here too of an evening or gather round the dining table for hand or two of cards. The modern kitchen is in a convenient position beside the dining area. Here you can whip up tasty meals for your friends or family using the delicious, fresh ingredients you have sourced in Tenby. Set the table and call everyone through when your meal is ready. The welcoming bedrooms are both on the first floor of the cottage. These include an inviting double bedroom and a family room with a sumptuous double bed and a set of bunk beds. The family shower room is also at this level. There is a courtyard here where you can keep surfboards and bicycles. There is no outdoor seating space with this cottage but the greenery of elegant Battery Gardens is within 150 metres. Walk 0.5 miles from the cottage to climb up to the castle ruins and take in the far-reaching coastal views. Look out across the water to see if you can spot any dolphins. Pick up the Wales Coast Path and wander 1.5 miles along the South Beach to Giltar Point. From there you can head out over the cliffs.

If you prefer to delve into the local history, head to Pembroke Castle (10 miles) or the fascinating Carew Castle and Tidal Mill (7 miles). Beach lovers are spoilt for choice, and Barafundle Bay Beach (14 miles) and Broad Haven South Beach (15.5 miles) are worth a visit.
